I JUST CAN’T FORGIVE

So you say that you could never forgive that person or those people that have hurt you in the past. Well I got some good news and some bad news for you. I want to start with the good news. Yes you can forgive if you really desire to allow Jesus to control your life. Besides what did Jesus say about forgiveness? Matthew 6:14-15, “For if ye forgive men their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you: But if ye forgive not men their trespasses, your heavenly Father will not forgive your trespasses.” You see the good news is that if you will forgive then God will forgive you.

Now you say, you just don’t know what those people have done to me, and if you had it done to you, you would not forgive them either. I know one thing, and that is that we all have hurt others in the past, but we must not allow this hurt to control our lives. You see if you will forgive then God will be able to bless you. This harboring unforgiveness in your heart just may be the reason that you are having so many problems in life because God can not bless an unforgiving heart. Your willingness to forgive those that you think have done you wrong is reflected in our experience and understanding of divine forgiveness. Love governs forgiveness. Jesus demonstrated this on the cross, as He asked for forgiveness for His executioners, Luke 23:34.

Now the negative side of this is that you go through life with sin in your life and as long as sin is in your life the God can not forgive you. What do you think will happen to you if you were to die with all that hate in your heart. Do you think you will go to heaven and not have to pay for your sin. In Psalm 51 David spoke of being separated from God because of sin in his life. A sinner can not live rightly without God, and a sinner is cut off from the presence of God. It is only through the mercy of God can you find peace and forgiveness.

Not only are you looking for those that have hurt you to come an apologize to you, but what about you going to those you have hurt and trying to recover your relationship with them. You see you are looking at your hurt while neglecting those you have hurt.

It is about time you made peace with God and ask Him to forgive you for all the sin you are carrying around in your life and start anew. Go now to God and ask for forgiveness and then go and ask forgiveness of all those that you have hurt and then forgive those that have hurt you then you will be blessed by God.
